CONCLUSIONS
The data we have looked at indicates that there may be trend toward the Warm Negative Phase of the AO. Because overall warming of the arctic would result in a stronger arctic high, forcing the AO toward the cold positive phase, any speculation that the Arctic Oscillation is a major factor in Global Warming is unfounded. It seems most likely that the long term variations are natural cycles that have such long periods that they have not yet been accounted for. We must conclude that the observed trends in the Arctic Oscillation are not indicative of any global climate change.
If the observed trend continues we might expect to see more snow in Alaska over the next several decades.
