wet catCats in a Microwave Oven?

DO NOT EVER PUT A LIVING ANIMAL IN A MICROWAVE OVEN!!
Urban legend #1 about microwave ovens: that you can dry off a wet cat by putting it inside.  Absolutely not!  While microwaves heat up water and will cause it to boil, they will also severly burn the cat.  There is a reason that the FDA mandates that the microwave radiation escaping from a microwave oven be at a very low level!  Remember that microwaves can penetrate fat and liquids-they can penetrate the skin of the cat and will cause the tissue underneath to heat up and burn.  Incidently, the exact same thing can happen to humans-operating a microwave that is dysfunctional and leaking microwaves can burn you!
