Green's Life
George Green was the only son of George Green Sr. a
Nottingham baker. Green's Grandparents were John and Ann Green. Green
Sr. was apprenticed as a baker until his twenty's. Green Sr. was able
to expand his business to include a modern (at the time) mill, which he
left to his son at his death. It is very likely that the good solid
business that Green Sr. developed allowed George Green to devote enough
of his time to his personal education to allow him the ability to
develop his mathematical theories.
