About Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla was born in present day Croatia on July 10th of the year 1856. He was born the fourth of five children. His father was an Orthodox Priest. His mother was somewhat of an inverter. She made many additions to household machines that made them work better.

Tesla had many skirts with death while he was growing up. During one extremely bad bout of cholera he, Tesla, told his father that he might recover if he could study engineering instead of becoming a clergy of the church, like his father. His father responded by sending him to the top engineering school available.

Nikola Tesla attended Austrian Polytechnic and studied electrical engineering. In 1882 he moved from there to Paris France to work as an engineer for the Continental Edison Company. He moved from there to America in 1884 in hopes of meeting a hero of his, Thomas Edison.

Once he finally got to America everything he has was lost or stolen. Tesla had two things in his pockets: 4cents and a letter of recommendation to Thomas Edison. The letter read, "I know of two great men, one is you and one is this young man." Edison gave Tesla a job working on his generators.
Tesla was promised the price of $50,000 dollars to improve the generators. When he had finished Edison laughed at him and said that it was only a joke.

After that Tesla quit and held a grudge against Edison for the rest of his life. Tesla then spent the next year doing hard labor digging ditches for the same company he had just left.
Tesla used this time to develop his induction motor. He developed this technology so it could be used as a power generator. By 1896 he had developed the first ever hydroelectric dam at Niagara Falls. This was the spark that got the worlds attention. He proved that an alternating current power transmission was much better than Edison's direct current.

With the word out about A/C he began to put his time and energies into a greater variety of his interests. Tesla was the first to x-ray his own bones. He also made the first neon light and the first radio control. He became obsessed with high voltage and high frequency.

In his later years Tesla began to lose his grip and his respect. People began to lose faith in him. Many people had capitalized on his good ideas and left him with nothing. He didn't care. His passion, to his dieing day, was to find a free energy source that could be transmitted wirelessly through out the world. By the end of his life he had over 700 patents. After his death the supreme court said that radio transmission was also his discovery.
