The M90 Shotgun fires 8 gauge rounds from a 12 round magazine.  More than capable of blasting through the shields of a Spartan's armor, each shell has between 108.87 and 245 kilojoules of kinetic energy, although at more than close range dispersion greatly reduces the damage inflicted.
