Pros and Cons of Using Hydrogen Fuel?

Advandages

  • Hydrogen gives off roughly 2.5 times more energy than the equivelant reaction for Methane, so it's an attractive source of energy.
  • Hydrogen is friendly to the environment because its only waste product is water.
  • The following table of common Hydrocarbons (fossil fuels) demonstrates that Hydrogen can be extracted using current refining processes. 4
      Common Hydrocarbons
C2H6
Ethane
C3H8
Propane
C4H10
Butane
C5H12
Pentane
C6H14
Hexane
C7H16
Heptane
C8H18
Octane

  • In the future, Hydrogen will be extracted from water. 6
