Glossary
Anisotropy - Ability to have
perfect smoothness.
Blackbody - A body in thermal
equilibrium that absorbs all energy that falls onto it reflecting
none. These bodies are also known to give of electromagnetic
radiation.
Baryonic Material - Any one of
the basic building blocks of elements; i.e. electrons, protons, and
neutrons.
Dark Matter - A certain type of matter that cannot be seen nor
measured.
Dark Energy - A certain type of energy that cannot be measured
directly but accounts for most of the energy in the Universe.
Decoupling - Time around
370,000 years after the Big Bang the electromagnetic radiation
displaced itself from the
baryonic material and shined freely throughout the
Universe
Fluid - Any liquid or gas
kilometer per second per
megaparsec - the rate of expansion of one section of the sky compared
to another section
Radiometers - An electronic devise that is used to measure microwaves
with great precision.
Recombination - Period
where
the baryonic material was able to slow down and be able to combine
itself together to create elementary particles.
