Single stage turbojet
Now for the fun stuff...
The basic single stage turbojet design
is what sparked the whole jet age. Turbojet engines are mainly found in aircraft
They work just like a power turbine with
two main features added in front. A compressor section and a combustion
chamber.

The turbine spinning is used to spin the
compressor section which feeds the combustion chamber. Air and fuel that is
mixed and ignighted in the combustion chamber powers the turbine. It is called
a gas generating turbine since
the source of the gas used to drive turbine is a part of the turbine. The large
amount of hot gasses expelled out the back provide trust.

and positions of the various sections in a turbojet.

The amount of air that is pulled into the
compressor has a minimal contribution to the overall thrust produced by a turbojet
engine.
