The purpose of this web project is to relate something to physics. This project covers moose hunting and more specifically some of the physics of shooting a moose which are present in the rifle, projectile, and moose. There are multiple methods for hunting moose, but this project will only consider modern firearms; the type of firearm considered will be discussed in the rifle section. Multiple bullet types will be discussed and explored as there are a vast number of bullet types, each with a particular purpose. Before looking at the physics it is important to consider why it is that people hunt, especially in America where it can be argued that there is no need for people to harvest their own meat. Below is a brief note of some possible factors leading to hunting.

Reasons to Hunt:

  •    Survival: People hunt to feed their families.
  •   Tradition: People everywhere participate in tradition; for some the tradition that they carry forth is hunting.
  •   Sport: Some people hunt as a means to fulfill a sporting desire.
  •   Species Strengthening: As members of a species grow old, their chances of acquiring and spreading diseases increases substantially. Hunting decreases the chance of diseases spreading rapidly throughout a game species.
  •   Health: Exercise is good for health. Meat taken from wild game is additive free and in almost all cases healthier than human produced foods.
  • Economy: State revenue from the sale of licenses and tags. Private businesses earn profits by selling
