Breakdown

Lets examine a jump-shot progression and breakdown the physics components

          Ray Allen

rayray

1. Beginning of ball placement, bending
of knees  to exert force on the floor
2. As he pushes on the floor the floor
pushes back with an equal and opposite
reaction force
3. Reaction force from floor propels
shooter in the air as it travels up through
his body
4. The apex of the jump is shown
here, the force is now being exerted
on the ball.
5. The ball is released with only
rotational forces and the gravitational
force acting upon it.
6. Holds follow-through as he returns
to floor

This real life scenario depicts a normal jump-shot from the
three point line from a court in the SRC.

Granted the form itself isn't that of an NBA player
but all the basic principles are the same in theory

The only differences is Ray Allen might exert a greater
force on the floor than myself. He also has extensive
practice, so his form his close to perfect making
his make percentage higher.

To conclude all the components themselves are the same
compared to my jump-shot vs. Ray Allens

Hope this improves your jump-shot by working on technique and form
