Myosins

Myosins are the motor proteins that generate muscle contractions. The widespread contraction of an area of muscle tissue is due to the coordinated efforts of many individual motor proteins. The myosin proteins move parallel filaments relative to each other which generates the force of the muscle contraction. Again, the motor protein impulse is fueled by hydrolysis of ATP at the motor protein head.
