Satellites

When you hear the word satellite you usually imagine a machine that humans put
up in space.  However, a satellite actually refers to anything orbiting a
celestial body.  This includes moons, space debris, and our very
own man made machines that orbit the planet we call home.

   Moons
moonsSeveral moons are thought to be the leftover materials of the planets they orbit.  Where other moons that have eccentric
or unstable orbits might be captured asteroids that have
fragmented due to collisions.  Charos which orbits
Pluto, and Earth's very own moon are possibly
the only exceptions, because they have stable
orbits but are believed to be captured
asteroids.
