The Physics of quantum Locking

Ted Talks video showing quantum locking

What is quantum locking?

Quantum locking is a phenomenon in which a magnetic field partially penetrates a type II superconductor locking it into place.  To more completely understand this effect an explanation of superconductors and the behavior of magnetic fields is necessary.
