Some of Galileo's Accomplishments

The Telescope: Galileo did not actually invent the telescope, that accoplishment is highly contested but it appears to have
originated from the Netherlands in an extremely primitive form. Galileo simply heard rumors of early models of Telescopes,
intuited how they must work, and created one that was far superior to all others at the time. At first he was only able to
achieve something like 3x magnification, but in time he acheived magnifications of up to 15-20x.

The Moons of Jupiter: Galileo was one the first to take a telescope and point it skyward. Because he was already fairly well
acquainted with the science of Astrology, he was able to see immediately many things that no one had noticed before because
they weren't visible with the naked eye. Among these were the moons of Juipter that he proptley named after the Medici family,
by whom he was employed.

Description of Objects in Free Fall: Throughout the course of his life and especially towards the end of it when he published
the work "Two New Sciences" Galileo contributed much to our understanding of how objects moved and the strength of materials.

Military Compass: This was something that Galileo impoved immensly, it's designed to be used militarily to calculate things like
distance, aspect (for cannon's) and even how much powder to load a gun with.
