We
make sound waves too!
Your
throat has it's own musical instrument that we call singing.
Inside the throat are vocal chords that
vibrate and make sound waves - just like we've been learning
about. If you hold your hand over your
neck you can feel the vibrations when you make a
sound. When you make a high pitch sound it feels
different than when you make a low pitch sound. Each
sound has it's own wave shape - you are sending
out invisible sound waves every time you make a
sound. Singing is a special way we use our vocal chords.
Here is a fun link to play with some
different pitches of sound waves.
Thanks to: Swedish
television company SVT hosts a
fun Flash application with four crazy, silly singing horses.
To hear the horses sing
acapella, just click on the horses’ heads one by one. A fun game for
both kids and grown-ups!
