Background of Cross Country Skiing
The very first cross country skiing competition was considered to have first occurred in Tromsö, Norway, in 1843. Since then cross country skiing recreationally and competitively is enjoyed by millions of people. Cross country skiing is broken up into two different kinds of skiing; skate skiing and classic skiing. Skate skiing consists of v1, v2, v2 alternate, and no pole technique. Classic skiing consists of striding, double pole, and double pole kick technique. All of these different ways to cross country ski are made possible by physics. Without physics a skier could not ski.
