Electromagnetic
Induction
Electromagnetic Induction:
The discovery of magnetic
induction dates back to the 1800's, when scientist Michael Faraday and
teacher Joseph Henry were working to convert magnetism into
electricity. Electromagnetic induction is a process that uses magnetic
fields to produce a voltage (or in some cases a current, as shown
below).
A
conductive
material
is moved through the magnetic field, which in turn
produces a current or voltage through that material. This concept is
applied to generators and electric guitar pickups.
