Paintball History
The Nelson Nelspot was the
first ever paintball marker, developed in 1974 for the use of
marking trees for logging
purposes. These guns shot 68 caliber paintballs of oil-based paint.
Soon after farmers began
to use the Nelspot for making stock.
The first paintball game
ever, then known as the national survival game took place in New
Hampshire, 1981 .

friends all carrying Nelpot pistols and shop goggles went into the
woods to play capture the flags.
Paintball Today
Paintball as evolved quickly since 1981
and is a world recognized sport and hobby of thousands today
Paintballs today are made
with water based paint which is non-toxic and washes off.
There are many different
leagues and tournaments around the world.
There are two main
branches of paintball, Woodsball and Speedball
Woodsball is traditional
play where teams spread over a large areas, stalking other teams and
try to
eliminate
them. The speed of
this type of play will vary with the personality of the players but
usually takes more time
because there is a lot of hunting and
terrain difficulties to account for.
Speedball is played
on small fields of grass or turf with plenty of barricades to cover
behind. Speedball is vary
fast play with your opponents always within firing range.
