Henry Cavendish

Henry Cavendish was born on October 10, 1731 in Nice, France. He was the oldest son of Lord Charles Cavendish and Lady Anne Gray. He attended Dr. Newcome's School in Hackney and latter was a student at St Peter's College in Cambridge. He spent four years there but left without a degree. He was extremely shy and avoided talking to strangers and women. He dressed unfashionably and rarely spoke. Despite his numerous oddities he made several significant contributions to science and was respected by his colleagues. He worked extensively with gasses, learning their properties and how to manipulate them. In addition, he worked out an accurate composition of the atmosphere. One of his greatest discoveries was the value of thr universal gravitational constant. Cavendish died on March 10, 1810.
