Conclusion

Antimatter is still a young concept in the greater paradigm of modern physics. It has challenged and baffled physicists for nearly eighty years, and continues to elude full explanation.

It is utilized in astronomy and nuclear medicine to the advantage of both fields, and threatens our idea of symmetry in nature.

Advocates of GUT's, string theory and relativity have both used and puzzled over its implications.

Once understood, however, the properties, origins, nature and behavior of antiparticles could eventually lead us to a greater understanding of the origins and evolution of matter and the relationship between matter and energy, and perhaps to a solution to the origin of the universe.
