The Legacy of Newton

Today Sir Isaac Newton is remembered as one of the three greatest mathematicians of all time, (along with Arichmedes and Gauss). He is regarded by most as the greatest scientist of all time. He  stood up for his beliefs in a Creator and an orderly universe, and was a champion of the scientific method. He challenged the long held but false scientific beliefs of his time and replaced them with the truth.

Newton’s masterpiece, "The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy" is generally considered to be the most important and influential scientific book ever written. In it Newton explained the workings of the solar system and formulated the basic laws of motion which to this day are fundamental in engineering and physics. The design and creation of complex machines, as well as space exploration, were made possible by his laws of motion.

As long as science is studied, the contributions of Isaac Newton will be remembered. Yet the man himself never believed he was anything special. He once said "If I have seen further than other men, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."
