ABSTRACT

Remember the times when a teacher/professor showed a movie in class just to waste time - and as an opportunity to avoid teaching anything? Yes, sadly, so do I!  What if we spun that around and showed movie clips, introduced pieces of art, and used Youtube clips on purpose to enhance student learning and engagement? Join us Friday for an interactive session that explores the use of non-physics contexts to begin thinking about how students can learn about physics phenomena in a different way. In this fast hour I will share examples of ways to engage students in learning using modern teaching methods that deliberately incorporates popular culture contexts. Look forward to seeing you on Friday at 3:45 pm.
