ABSTRACT

The ever growing demand for energy remains a critical issue for the world with Fusion as one of the few ways to potentially meet this need. Since I have had the dubious honor of serving on a DOE FESAC Strategic Planning Review panel this summer and have had quite an educational experience, we will discuss the current state of the world fusion program as well as plans/outlook for the near and medium future. As a cautionary tale for those who might be seduced by such panels, we will also discuss how some such review processes work, from the "Charge letter" to the "report" which is due to be released in 2 weeks.
