ABSTRACT

Our talk begins with the early ideas of radio ranging and direction finding, industry "firsts," intellectual properties, and the technology's rapid evolution up till World War II. The historic growth in the technology with military applications, especially by the German, British, American and Japanese researchers is also reviewed.
