ABSTRACT

Turbulence interacts with sheared flows in numeous places and numerous ways. This talk will briefly review turbulent transport and our standard understanding of the process behind it. We will then discuss some of the places in which sheared flows interact with turbulence and some of the ways that this interaction impacts the turbulence, the sheared flow and the transport. Finally we will present a very new result that suggests our current understanding of the effect of sheared flows on turbulent transport is rather incomplete.
