X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation commonly used in the health care industry. Today, exposure to
x-rays is common place in health care facilities to create radiographs, an important tool for accurate monitoring and diagnosis of injuries and diseases. X-rays can also cause damage to living tissue through acute or chronic exposure. It is important that patients and health care professionals are aware of the hazards of x-ray exposure and that they take appropriate precautions to minimize exposure when possible.
