The main thing to know about electricity is that if you
don't have a closed circuit, nothing will happen!
Current flows form the positive to negative terminal of the
battery. Current can be "carried" by electrons flowing from
positive to negative.
You can have voltage without current but not current without
voltage.
This is because:
"Voltage is the cause,
current is the effect" (Hewes, John. 2011)
Voltage is the the energy that the current is carrying around
the circuit.
If he circuit is closed and complete, then the voltage can
"push" the current around the circuit.
However, if there is a break in the circuit and it is
not closed or complete, then the voltage can still be present
but there will be no current
because there is nowhere for it to go and it cannot complete
the charge ( Hewes, John. 2011).
