On April 28th of 1664 Newton was elected a scholar, and a year later received his bachelor’s degree.  That same year the school was closed down due to the bubonic plague and Newton was just beginning to come forth as a mastermind in the areas of mathematics, physics, astronomy and optics.  He started to revolutionize the old ideas in these areas in only a few short years and still under the age of 25.  After these 2 years away from any formal schooling he returned and was elected a Fellow of Trinity College in 1667.  In only two years he was elected the Lucasian Professor of Cambridge.
