The importance of the Sun to the Earth!

The connection and interaction between the Sun and the Earth is extremely important. The sun drives the seasons, currents in the ocean, weather, and climate.

The Sun heats the Earth causing water in the oceans, river, lakes, and streams to evaporate. The evaporated water cools and returns to Earth in the form of rain or snow providing moisture and water for plants and animals prosper. Plants also convert the light into energy (photosynthesis) in order to grow, a byproduct of this process Oxygen which mixes with gasses in the Earth's atmosphere enabling animals to breath. Animals in turn eat the plants for energy

The Earth's temperature depends on energy from the Sun. As the Earth rotates it is exposed to the suns radiation. Due to the Earth's shape (sphere) the sun's energy is not evenly distributed along the surface. So the solar heat energy reaching the Earth is more intense at the equator than it is at the poles.
